Welcoming the Autumnal Equinox
By Catie Cadge, PhD
Happy EQUINOX everyone! Happy MABON! Sun enters the sign of Libra September 22nd at 11:49 pm Pacific time.
The Celtic holiday of Mabon marks the start of autumn in the northern hemisphere. Summertime…she’s come and gone, my oh my. We associate this time of year with the last quarter Moon in the Celtic calendar (the actual Moon now is waxing). A subtle, seasonal mood, a feeling and awareness around life’s fleeting nature. It takes a kind of mature wisdom inside to feel through the waning yearly cycle. There is something beautiful about fall.
Every year at this time, we have Libra season, but this year and next, the south node of the Moon is also in Libra, the north node in Aries. We may find ourselves wrestling with karmic bonds now, Libra soul connections with others that seem to have spanned many lifetimes. They may require some balance of love and care with a mutual respect for our own right to forge ahead with our Aries initiative, our path, our life.
We may face a karmic responsibility to those we love, those who need defending, and who need our leadership and our courage. But, well, here’s my two cents to add: remember the north node in Aries says, we, too, have a right to take up space.
Ask yourself, where do I need to compromise, negotiate, and find peace with those I love, and then where do I need to claim my OWN warrior spirit, my particular path?
